in Martha's words, this is audience participation.
Todd brought up a good point tonight. He came home from Orlando and was not pleased I had posted he was away, due to safety concerns. He had an assembly at his school all about places like my space and xanga and how students post things that can allow them to be found by various freaks. My initial reaction was to kind of "pffft," because I *am* careful about what I post, and, after all, I am a grown woman.
As my fellow bloggers, what do you think about this? I know some of you have discussed not posting information that will get you in trouble at work, but what about not posting information that could open you up to stalkers, etc? What is your policy on this? Do you even think about it?
I realize that some of you may consider yourselves the creepy ones, so let's try to leave that out of the equation.

I would be concerned about posting my location or my last name. since I don't post those things, I feel alright posting other personal information. hopefully from reading my blog I could be any martha living anywhere teaching music.
I err on the side of caution and am vague about when I'm going on vacation or going to be away for awhile. I usually post about it after the fact. It's incredibly easy to find out information about people on the Internet. I am also paranoid though, so that's just me. :)
Huh.. I'd never really considered it.. I mean I'm not in the phone book, I don't think I posted too much detail about where I live besides maybe city and state.. plus I live with two 50 pound dogs.. one of whom lives to protect, the other is a follower and would totally do whatever the first one did..
And did I mention my incredibly vicious guard-cats? ;)
Of course now when I get home I'm totally going to scan my webpage for giveaways.. I'm pretty sure my last name is up there, but someone who wanted it badly enough could get it if they were smart enough anyways, and no.. I'm not telling how!
I agree.
But personally, I don't worry about stalkers or any of my privacy. I think I posted my social security number somewhere. But maybe that means I'm the creepy one and am thus banned from this discussion.
