Caffeine Free

For a variety of reasons, all of which seem to elude me, I switched to decaf coffee on Tuesday. This means I basically gave up caffeine. I really didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal, after all I only had a couple cups of coffee first thing in the morning, and then nothing for the rest of the day.

Oh my goodness, was I wrong. Yesterday I was EXHAUSTED, today I'm exhausted and I have a headache. I came home from work thirty minutes early and took a two hour nap. I had no idea what a huge effect caffeine had on me. Right now I feel like crap, but, presumably, soon, I will feel better than ever.

Which is exactly why I need my caffeine. I read this great article recently about all the redeeming and wonderful qualities in coffee. And how some people actually need that afternoon cup to help them focus.

I can't give up coffee, but I did cut back on soda. I don't keep it in the house anymore.

I may go back, I just thought it was worth seeing how I felt off of it, sort of what I was missing out on. I also heard that if you drink caffeine regularly it may hurt weight loss.

Most of the health benefits in coffee, antioxidants, etc, can be achieved with decaf. Just make sure you get swiss water processed decaf, as other decaf coffee can be full of chemicals.

You're brave. I'm trying to cut back on sodas, but I don't know what I'd do without my morning coffee. I sometimes wonder if it's the thought of the morning coffee that works for me, or the actual coffee, but I'm just not ready to find out!
